Fashion Icon on Display

Via Hot Air, President and Mrs. Obama attend a ceremony awarding posthumous Medal of Honor to U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti’s whose parents received the award for him.

No one can possibly be this clueless. This is just another in the "I won" series of pokes in the eye to American values and tradtions.

You know I just don't get her. Is it that she's afraid if she wears a sober dress even to an occasion like this she'll be called "frumpy" or something? She looks like she's about to go out on the dance floor in a disco in Cancun.

She reminds me of a joke I heard in the 80s. I was on some late night comedy show, and it was some black comedian whose name I can't remember. Anyway, he had a routine about dating (he was sort of a nerdy guy, BTW, like Obama, not a rapper-thug type though I believe this was before rap became big). He told a story about taking out a girl. (A black girl, as will become obvious.) She was nice and sweet, until he came to the movie he had planned to take her to. I was some drippy romantic thing (this was also before the whole "chick movie, guy movie" thing -- men didn't like drippy movies, but they were a recognized dating ploy if you wanted to impress the girl as a "nice" guy as opposed to someone who would take you to a horror movie just so he could feel your breasts when you grabbed him at scary scenes). Anyway, the girl responded with "I don't wanna go to no damn sad movie!"

I can see Michelle now. "I don't want to go to no damn sad ceremony!"

I disagree. This is deliberate big-time dis(respect)ing.
