This Really Stinks

Matt Drudge has either become a victim of the same mysterious sickness that befell Andrew Sullivan (and I don't mean homosexuality) or his true politics have surfaced because this teaser headline, like many others recently, is unconscionable.

Home schooling has been under attack for a long time since those who are home schooled are actually being taught, not propagandized, do very well on standardized tests and are also pretty normal kids as well.

I'd be surprised if Obama allows it to continue.

Getting to the meat of the article. Obviously the Patriot Act has been one of the biggest bones in the craw of the left, so like strip searching nuns at the airport, arresting this kid will prove how harmful it is and how it's the innocent who suffer the most.

Sixteen-year-old Ashton Lundeby's bedroom in his mother's Granville County home is nothing, if not patriotic. Images of American flags are everywhere – on the bed, on the floor, on the wall.

But according to the United States government, the tenth-grade home-schooler is being held on a criminal complaint that he made a bomb threat from his home on the night of Feb. 15.

Lundeby [boy's mother] said she does not think this type of case is what the Patriot Act was intended for. Boyce [a defense attorney and former U.S. attorney not connected to the Lundeby case] agrees.

"It was to protect the public, but what we need to do is to make sure there are checks and balances to make sure those new laws are not abused," he said.
Ya gotta give them credit. They're killing two bad birds with one stone, maybe even three. The family may also be fundamental, the very worst kind, Christians.

So let's see if I understand you here.

You're saying the FBI made up charges against this person because he is a home-schooled christian in order to discredit the Patriot Act?

What I'm saying is that whether he was home schooled isn't pertinent, especially in a headline and taking a 16 year old kid 550 miles away from home, isolating him from his family and legal representation is outrageous ... and yes I do think the current administration would like to discredit the Patriot Act and anything else that interferes with their goals including home schooling and conservative Christians.

Whether this kid called in a bomb threat or not, he's obviously not a terrorist and if he did pull a stupid stunt, he should be treated the same as other kids who pull the same kind of stupid stunts.
