Obama Met With Fox News Executives

FTA Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes says, he tried to clear the air with the Democratic senator by saying that his organization was determined to be fair but would not be "in the for Obama's campaign.
During the sit-down in a Waldorf-Astoria hotel suite in Manhattan that included Rupert Murdoch, the network's owner, Obama expressed concern about the way Fox was covering him. "I just wanted to know if I'm going to get a fair shake from Fox News Channel, "Ailes recalled him saying.
"Senator, you're the one who boycotted us," Ailes says he replied. "We're not the ones who boycotted you. Nor did we retaliate for your boycott."
The meeting appears to have eased tensions between the two camps, which began when all the Democratic candidates, complaining that the network favors Republicans, refused to hold any primary-season debates on Fox. After resisting invitations for months, Obama now plans to appear on Bill O'Reilly's prime-time Fox program on Thursday, the night that John McCain delivers his acceptance speech at the Republican convention here.
As has been obvious for many months, FOX is sliding left and for all Ailes' brave talk, it's not impossible he will be joining Brit Hume under the Murdoch bus.
After Hume leaves FOX, there will no reason to tune it at all.
The blatant hypocrisy of the three networks refusal to air Thompson's speech last night even though he was speaking during their advertised Republican Convention Coverage is breathtaking. I don't know what they aired instead.
Will this campaign mark the end of mass media control of this country? Will we,the people, who are turning away from newspapers and television in droves drive them into more leftwing frenzy thereby speeding their demise.
I wish I could be surer of the outcome of this election. McCain doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would cave into pressure to remove Palin from the ticket, but the clamor is getting louder and he may be forced to "pull an Eagleton." Should he do that, his candidacy will not recover and the media will prove once again that their lies trump our truth.
