Flowers of May

Update - May 22nd -- The first and only (so far) flower that has grown from the over 100 seeds I planted this spring. It was well worth waiting for - I give you the:

Oh, What A Beautiful Morning GloryTM

Also a surprise this week are blossoms on the Bay/Magnolia tree:

It hasn't rained a drop in several weeks, so everything is dry, dry, dry. On top of that, the temp is back to normal for this time of year -- high 80's and 90's.

Bougainvillea doesn't mind the heat. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Red geraniums in large planters are many years old. Need minimum care and water to look wonderful.

Pink impatiens nestled in some Swedish ivy which does nicely in sun or shade. Impatiens can't take the sun and in the hot weather sometimes need to be watered twice a day. They're worth the trouble though. This camera doesn't do justice to the deep clear colors.

Lemon scented begonias are new this year and went south as soon as it got hot. We saved a little bit of it and now it's in the shade, we hope it will revive.

Asparagus fern grows everywhere; kalanchoe likes the shade, but will tolerate some sun; delphinium likes sun, but Florida sun may be too strong. Hoping for the best.

Jewel like colors of the impatiens in the filtered sunlight they like. Water occasionally and they'll keep blooming like this all year.

Hanging geranium needs to be watered everyday.

How I envy you the glorious bougainvillea, e. I grow many of the same plants as you, but it just isn't warm enough for that to survive.

You must spend a great deal of time watering your plants. Our unseasonal heatwave has only lasted a few days and the rain is returning tomorrow, so nature will look after my garden for me!
