And the Band Played on ...

Via LGF an update on Obama's warm up band, the Decemberists. Someone in the Chicago area deleted the entry at Wikipedia about their using the Soviet anthem as their opening number. A LGF reader restored the entry.

Looking at the picture of the huge crowd of "Obama supporters" in Portland, Oregon was very depressing. Even though the states at the top of the left coast are more moonbatty than the rest of our country, a mob of this size was unsettling.

FTA: From CNN to the New York Times, the media hyped Barack Obama's Portland, Oregon rally on Sunday, some comparing him to a rock star. Unmentioned in national reporting was the fact that Obama was preceded by a rare, 45-minute free concert by actual rock stars The Decemberists. The Portland-based band has drawn rave reviews from Rolling Stone magazine

From a reader's comment: The original 'Decemberists' were pre Communists Russian Revolutions, but for whatever reason the band apparently opens its concerts with the Soviet national anthem. Would be interesting to know whether they used it for the Obama rally.

Again, I forgot to remember, that what the media serve up to us whether in print or in pictures is almost assuredly spin, fiction or fantasy. This article is the first of what I hope will be many putting the size of the crowd in perspective. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes for this information to even get to the bottom of p. 19 in our local liberal rag.

Segueing into the last two primaries -- Hillary's wins by a margin of 35% in Kentucky and 41% in WV were dismissed because most supporters were working class whites, while Obama's mere 16% margin of victory in Oregon, arguably the most radical state in the union and 14% in NC with its large black population were heralded as triumphs.

The media are stepping up the pressure for Hillary to concede and leave the field so Obama can have a clear path for his triumphal march to Denver. If they're are so confident their boy is a winner, why not let it all play out. The answer is, I think, that it's not all that cut and dry by any means, and that by the time August rolls around, there'll a lot more, not less, contretemps.

I sure hope so. To quote Rush, "This is more fun than human being should be allowed to have."
