Schumer's Ego = WMD

FTA The director of the Office of Thrift Supervision, John Reich, blamed IndyMac's failure on comments made in late June by Sen. Charles Schumer (D., N.Y.), who sent a letter to the regulator raising concerns about the bank's solvency. In the following 11 days, spooked depositors withdrew a total of $1.3 billion. Mr. Reich said Sen. Schumer gave the bank a "heart attack."

While freedom of speech is an inalienable right of a free people, that doesn't mean that those who have the ear of the destructive mass media shouldn't be held responsible for the damage caused by their self-aggrandizing mouthings.

Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), his long-time colleague Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) who caused many deaths by revealing confidential intelligence to the media and other long-time Democratic congress critters have been returned to office decade after decade no matter the wrong doing and scandal surrounding them. Senators Dodd, Obama and others currently accused of sweetheart deals by mortgage companies are blithely ignoring the charges knowing that the media will give them a pass.

During the Clinton administration, Leahy was forced to resign as chairman of the intelligence committee (although he should have been tried for treason) and Schumer should, at the least, be forced to resign as a member of the senate finance committee chaired by his old pal, Senator Dodd (D CT).
