Capitalism Killed Slavery

There was a great post at the Great Guys Weblog last month on the subject of job creation. Harry Eagar who usually has interesting points of views, commented that, and I quote, "America became rich, it wasn't always great. It isn't uniformly great yet either. The richness derived in large part from mere theft [Indian lands and African slave labor] , ...". He went on to blame capitalism and free markets for the poor among us, yet as the essential Cafe Hayek says in post today, "Slavery was destroyed by capitalism."

We need to remember as we get sweet talked further along the path of socialism just what it is that makes America great.
